As you all know, well if you don’t you shall do soon. The male and I have been trying to save for a mortgage and to buy a house for a while now. It’s such a struggle to try and save up to a reasonable amount, and when we do finally feel like we are getting somewhere something will then come along like car insurance or something that needs a repair *sighs. So we decided we needed to do something about it, we needed to have somewhere ‘proper’ to save where we can watch it grow and try and hide it away from our spendable fingers, I may not be a big spender but I do like to have a little dabble nosing in the charity shops and if there is a bargain to be had I can’t just leave it can I!.
We were thinking we should probably try and have a plan to an amount of money to save each week an ‘ISA allowance’ that we could work towards each week and then pop into our account. One that we can just open with £1 and then grow it into substantial go and buy a house fund. Wow how exciting that would be to go and buy a house! I have started a new blog Making a house a home the plan is to jot down all the idea’s I have to save money, to show my crafty ideas of how to make a house homely and to moan about the fact we are a long way off owning our own property. I have a few ideas lined up on how to make over some furniture that we own to spruce it up so it sits in more with my décor. Another creative activity I aim on doing is making some pretty hanging ornaments using dropped branches from a willow tree and shaping them into a heart and maybe attaching some fabric letters to it.
Another way I was thinking of adding to our nest egg was by selling some items that we are no longer using for example some garden toys the boys are no longer using, some baby items that are no longer needed because my baby is now a toddler *sad face* and an old sofa that is in the shed as we now have a new one, although it needs some work doing to it but that’s another post! ? How do you save? Do you have any tips or advice?
