This past week I have been on my period, and in this week I have had to say sorry to a few people for my snappy ass bitchy self. I wanted to write a blog post for women everywhere to explain that it’s not our fault and apologies for the action from our angry ovaries and swollen womb.
You see as pictured below, our womb turns into Menstrual Island, we want to eat our body weight or more in rubbish food. Everything EVERYONE does is annoying. Our skin terrifies even us, adverts make us cry. None of our clothes feel comfortable enough, and then there’s that horrible feeling of sitting down on a chair and then having to check it as you get up because you are paranoid about leaving behind a blood puddle.
What is a period!?
The menstrual cycle is controlled by hormones. In each cycle, rising levels of oestrogen cause the ovary to develop an egg and release it (ovulation). The womb lining also starts to thicken (this is painful).
After ovulation, the hormone progesterone helps the womb lining grow thicker, ready for pregnancy (this is painful).
The egg travels down the fallopian tubes. If pregnancy doesn’t occur, the egg is absorbed into the body. Levels of oestrogen and progesterone fall, and the womb lining comes away and leaves the body as a period (the menstrual flow) (this is painful).
A period is made up of blood and the womb lining. (this is a thing of Satan)
And Then there is you!
We deal with ALL of this.. AND THEN some human, annoys us. And all of this rage we feel towards mother nature is thrown at you. It is ALL you fault. Even your breathing is probably annoying. However after a few hours and our hormones making us feel fluffy and emotional, and we are sorry, I am sorry. I am going to read Miranda Gray’s The optimised woman, and red moon. Maybe things will change, My mooncup made periods easier to deal with. But my hormones… I have no excuse for them.
Really Sorry I Over-Reacted.
Really Sorry I Ovary Acted.
