Self Care Week – DAY 2
Yesterday was all about giving ourselves the time to think about what we are lacking on. What we need to make more time to do and even what we could add into our daily routine to make life easier.
One of the things I do in the morning is I wake up at 6.30am to get up, take my medication and have my breakfast before everyone else gets up. What I have recently added into the mix is I will take my breakfast upstairs and get back into bed. Whilst eating my breakfast I will close my eyes and listen to myself chew, the more I listen the slower and more mindful of my eating that I am. I have made it into a sort of meditation, where I allow myself to just be still. To not think and to only concentrate on the noise of my breakfast.
Something I am learning in my journey of self discovery is that you can basically use every moment or situation within your life to learn from and be mindful for.
The mood you wake up in, in the morning usually will set you up for the day. The best way you can wake up is to be grateful, lay still for a minute or so. Appreciate the warmth of your covers and the comfort of your bed, and thank the universe for a new day of adventure before setting your feet down out of your bed.
One of the best self care activities you can do is to allow yourself to listen to your inner being. Through meditation and mindfulness. As I have explained above this doesn’t have to be crossed legged on the floor with your fingers in the Gian Mudra position (although sometimes this is a way people find they can really connect with themselves). Sometimes it’s just being in Nature, shaking away your meaningless thoughts and just allow yourself to enjoy the peace around you.
So for today’s self care mission I would like you to go for a nice walk, even just for a few minutes around your block. Look and listen to all that is around you. Smile at people as you walk past them. Notice the birds on peoples aerials. Listen to the rustling, the dogs barking, the cars as they drive past. Just enjoy the freedom of everything. And allow yourself to be filled with gratitude and love.
If you have time, if you could just sit down and take a few breathes and tell yourself;
‘Everything I need is Within Me’
And really feel it, allow it to really resonate with you, and know that YOU are all that you really need. It’s amazing what you can really SEE if you open your EYES.
Were you amazed by the things you felt gratitude for when you gave yourself a few minutes to really ‘see’ them? Let me know below <3
