Did you know on average each person directly uses around 150 litres of water every day!? Can you imagine ho much that is upping our water bills! This is all according to waterwise, a figure which has been growing every year by 1% since the 1930’s. This means that an household of 5 can aerage a staggering 523 litres of water being used/wasted each day.
It is said that 30% of all water used in the UK is actually from flushing the toilet with only 4% of water actually being drank! That is such a huge amount when you think about the countries that are even lacking enough clean water that is suitable for them to drink.
So here’s another one, how many of you love a lovely long shower? Especially if you are a gym goer like me and a nice power shower eases those achey muscles a treat, well did you know that having just a five minute shower averages around a 46 litre usage of water. Wowee!.
The government is planning on reducing the water usage to 120 litres per person by 2030, so turn the tap off, put that plug and get your pennies back in your pocket.
The below info graphic has been produced in conjunction with Salamander Pumps, using sources from UK Gov it delves into water usage in the UK. There are some shocking statistics, do let me know your thoughts in the comments box.
