On the evening of Thursday 29th June, Andy and I embarked on our adventures to our local Showcase Cinema. But this time it was a date with a difference as it was the celebration of the newly refurbished and rebranded Showcase Cinema de Lux in Coventry and it was an exclusive launch event. Oooh la la! Very Exciting.
With a drink and canapé reception and then was followed by a screening of Transformers: The Last Knight in the large format XPlus screen, exclusive to Showcase. Featuring a giant, wall to wall screen, laser projection, immersive Dolby Atmos sound and fully reclining seating as standard, it really was a truly amazing night made even better by the other people we met whilst there, including a couple of which Andy knew their son and someone from the BBC who was enjoying the food as much as us and we were passing the canapes back and sharing the love. My Gosh those chicken wings were hot!
The ambience before even going into the screen room was electric, people buzzing, communicating, drinking wine and socialising. There was so much room and space in the reception area, the revamp really has made the cinema a nice place to visit. Somewhere you can visit and along with actually having the cinema ‘date’ you can also continue with the date side of things in the front and get to know each other more.
So why am I telling you this?
Because we need to look more into the less expensive things in life and enjoy them more. Yes the cinema is a much more expensive way to watch a film than at home, but sometimes we really just need to take into account how we feel in certain situations and if it’s worth the expense.
I really REALLY and I mean really LOVE a good film. My categories of what I love vary and other than a horror because I would hide so much and wouldn’t enjoy it, I would love to visit the cinema and watch more movies, especially if it’s something Andy and I would enjoy together.
Now the price of the cinema is quite expensive, I understand that. And up until now I would even agree it was unjust, however now with the refurbished showcase you really can pack more appeal into your buck.
The chairs were so comfy and it was amazing to have the controls in the chair so that each person can be comfortably and personally positioned. This was great for my legs, I suffer with restless leg because of my fibromyalgia and it made the world of difference to have the freedom to keep repositioning without it being and immense pain to all those around me.
The spaces around the chairs were so roomy and the speakers in the room well, lets just say it definitely kept you feeling more involved with the film.
A Big Thanks to Showcase Cinema de Lux Coventry for inviting us. Have you checked out the Cinema de lux yet?
